“國際百萬森林計劃”專案最初是由國際氣候組織、聯合國環境規劃署、中國綠化基金會等共同發起，於2009年08月由英國前首相貝理雅先生親自啟動，李冰冰女士擔任亞太區推廣大使。計劃最初由線上和線下兩部分組成，分別為“減碳行動”和“我要一棵樹”，簡稱“減碳贈樹”。最初目標是為沙漠化地區種植百萬沙棘樹，幫助氣候貧困地區人口改善生態環境及增加收入。

“國際百萬森林計劃”自2010年起得到全球五大洲各地不同國家、地區和城市嚮應，至今參與計劃的城市和地區已逾一百個，每年為地球種植過億棵樹木。香港區的“百萬森林計劃”委員會於2010年06月06日由香港綠色自然聯盟(HKGNU)和喜馬拉雅自然文明保護協會(HIMA)共同建立，並於同年07月25日在香港城市大學舉行“百萬森林計劃”在香港的第一次委員會議，確立了香港區的“國際百萬森林計劃”委員會每年至少籌辦一次國際性的植樹活動讓市民公眾參與，並且每年舉辦不少於約二十次的植林綠化工作坊予各公司企業、學校及社會團體參與。自2010年06月至2012年04月，香港區的委員會已舉辦了兩次大型的國際植樹活動，一次中型的本地植樹活動，和約七十次的植林綠化工作坊及課程，為約四千多人提供了體驗和學習的機會，及種植了約10,000棵原生樹木。

繼2009年“國際百萬森林計劃”在中國大陸的委員會於北京舉行啟動儀式後，上海、臺北也在2010年10月舉行了盛大的“國際百萬森林計劃”啟動儀式，而香港和澳門，在同年12月分別在香港彌敦酒店及澳門威尼斯人酒店舉行了港澳區的啟動儀式，正式開展了“百萬森林計劃”在大中華地區的植林綠化工作，與全球其他地方的“國際百萬森林計劃”委員會，和聯合國環境規劃署、世界地球日委員會和世界濕地組織共同努力，實踐保育、教育及可持續發展的工作。

"Le projet mondial des arbres de million / Projet de million d'arbres" a ete initialement co-organisé par les organisations internationales sur le climat, le Programme des Nations Unies pour l'Environnement, la fondation de vert de la Chine, commençait depuis août 2009 par l'ancien premier ministre britannique, M. Tony Blair, personnellement, et Mademoiselle Li Bingbing comme une ambassadeuse de la région Asie-Pacifique pour promouvoir le projet. Le projet a ete à l'origine composé de deux parties respectivement, notamment "la réduction de carbone" et "je voudrais d'un arbre", dénomme "la réduction du carbone et donner d'arbres". L'objectif initial, million d'argousier arbres sont plantés pour les zones de désertification, afin d'aider la population dans les régions pauvres du climat et afin d'améliorer l'environnement écologique et d'accroître les recettes.

"Le projet mondial des arbres de million / Projet de million d'arbres", depuis 2010, a répondu des pays, les régions et les villes différents à travers le monde sur les cinq continents, puisque les villes et les régions qui participaient au programme sont plus d'une centaine, la plantation des milliards arbres de la terre de chaque année. Le comité hongkongais de "Le projet mondial des arbres de million / Projet de million d'arbres", était établie le 06 juin 2010 par Hong Kong Green Nature Union (HKGNU) et la Fondation de Himalaya (HIMA), et confirmait par le comité d'organiser une activité internationale de plantation d'arbres pour les publiques, et au moins environ 20 fois des ateliers de reboisement pour les entreprises, les écoles et les groupes communautaires différentes à participer. À partir de juin 2010 à avril 2012, le comité hongkongais a organisé deux grandes activités internationales de plantation d'arbres, une moyenne activité locale de plantation d'arbres, et environ 70 fois des ateliers d'arbres de plantation d'écologisation et des cours, pour laisser environ 4,000 personnes d'experimenter et d'apprendre, et plantaient environ 10,000 arbres indigènes.

Suite après la cérémonie de lancement s'est tenue à Pékin par le comité de la Chine continentale de "Le projet mondial des arbres de million / Projet de million d'arbres" , Shanghai, Taipei, a tenu une grande cérémonie de lancement pour ce projet également en octobre 2010, à Hong Kong et à Macao, a tenu une cérémonie de lancement aussi dans la même année décembre, travailler ensemble avec d'autres comités de "Le projet mondial des arbres de million / Projet de million d'arbres" dans le reste du monde , avec le Programme des Nations Unies pour l'environnement, la Commission mondiale sur la Journée de la Terre et le réseau mondial des zones humides, d'organiser des efforts conjoints pour pratiquer la conservation, la pédagogie et le développement durable.

The "International Million Trees / Forest Project" was initially co-organized by the international climate organizations, United Nations Environment Programme, the China Green Foundation, to start on August 2009 by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Miss Li Bingbing as the Asia-Pacific region Ambassador to promote the project. The project was originally composed of two parts respectively, the "carbon reduction" and "I want a tree", referred to as "carbon reduction and tree giving". The original goal is, million of sea buckthorn trees are planted for desertification areas, to help the population in the poor climate condition areas to improve the ecological environment and increase their revenue.

Since 2010, the "International Million Trees / Forest Project" , responded in different countries, regions and cities around the world on five continents, more than one hundred cities and regions participating in the projet, for planting billion of trees each year for the earth. The "International Million Trees / Forest Project" Hong Kong Region Committee, was established since 06 June 2010 by the Hong Kong Green Nature Union (HKGNU) and Himalayan Foundation (HIMA), confirmed the "International Million Trees / Forest Project" Hong Kong Region Committee has to meet at least organize an international tree-planting activity for public participation each year, and annual afforestation workshops are not less than about 20 times for various companies, schools and community groups to participate. From June 2010 to April 2012, the Committee of Hong Kong has organized two large-scale international tree planting activities, a medium-sized local tree planting activity, and about 70 times tree planting green workshops and courses for about 4,000 people the opportunity to experience and learn, and planted about 10,000 native trees.

Following and after 2009, the launching ceremony held in Beijing by the "International Million Trees / Forest Project" mainland China's committee, Shanghai, Taipei, are also held a grand launch ceremony of the "International Million Trees / Forest Project" on October 2010. In Hong Kong and Macao, we have also held a launching ceremony in the same year December. We will execute our best with the other cities' committees, to carry out green afforestations, together with the United Nations Environment Programme, the World Earth Day Network and World Wetlands Network, to organize more joint efforts to practice conservation, education and sustainable development.
